There are a few different Corvette t-tops that have been produced over
the years. When customers contact us the first question we usually ask is what
kind of tops do you have?
To answer our question " Which t tops do you
have?" you need to locate the etched in stamp
on the outside rear of the t-top glass where the back of the door glass roll
up. On the glass tops you will see markings like this

All we really need is the M code, in the
above example it would be M-1131 on the lower right. The F/ LX is the date
code on the middle right, the DOT 15 is the US Department of
Transportation number and the LOF logo is the manufacturer.
This particular top the code is M1131
Please ensure that both tops have the same code.
- There are two types of glass used in original Corvette t tops
- Laminated- Like a windshield, has thin piece of rubber sandwiched
in between two thin panels of glass. Problems were it was very fragile.
Normally it does not break but has hairline cracks.
- Tempered- Solid glass panel which is very strong due to the heating
and cooling manufacturing process. Shatters into thousands of little pieces
like a door glass when it breaks.
